Poezja i Dramat
"Arms and the Man" by George Bernard Shaw is a delightful and satirical play that offers a comedic exploration of war, love, and societal expectations. Set during the Serbo-Bulgarian War in the late 19th century, the play introduces audiences to a cast of colorful characters whose beliefs and ideals are put to the test. The story revolves around Raina Petkoff, a romantic young woman engaged to the dashing Sergius Saranoff, a heroic Bulgarian officer. Raina idolizes Sergius for his supposed bravery in battle and his gallant demeanor. However, their perceptions are challenged when a Serbian soldier, Captain Bluntschli, seeks refuge in Raina's bedroom after deserting the battlefield. To her surprise, she discovers that Bluntschli is a pragmatic and unromantic man, more interested in chocolate and survival than in ideals of heroism.
