“JAKE? Jake! Are you listening to me?”

I was pulled out of my midday fantasy when I felt Cleo touch my arm as she called my name. I blinked a few times, finding the faces of four women looking back at me. Each face contained a hint of amusement, and I realized I must have been out for some time.

“There he is,” joked Stella, letting out a small giggle. “Where did you go, Jake? Having a great daydream?”

To be honest, I was. I didn’t mean to nod off while Cleo was talking, but part of me was still stuck on the things that had happened just two weeks ago. The passage of time had done little to dull my memory of standing over Archlord Davon Lockhart while I muted his demonic core—a feat that had only been accomplished by one other demon lord in history.

It was a turning point in my life. I went from a relatively obscure freshman to national celebrity overnight. I saw renditions of my battle with Davon in our campus newspaper and even got a thank-you note from the Demonic Overlord.

I knew my life was never going to be the same. Part of that was also due to the women that were sitting in front of me.

There were two women at the table that I was intimately familiar with, and shockingly enough, they both knew about each other and approved. One of them, a gorgeous blonde by the name of Stella Murdoch, was the one that introduced me to demonic life. She became my girlfriend during my first semester at the academy, and we hadn’t looked back since.
