“Ian?” I gasped.

“Welcome to New York City, baby girl,” he was beaming, standing in front of me with a big bouquet of flowers.

I don’t wanna just be some teacher at some high school.” My hands reached for his tired face and I cupped his cheeks gently. He tried to look away, but I forced his eyes to look into mine.

“I’m always proud of you, Ian. Even before the gallery and even when you’re just my teacher, I am always proud of you.” ******
