There are many incredible stories associated with the Sri Jagannath Temple of Puri. It is believed that the Patit Pavan flag of the temple always flutters in the opposite direction of the wind. The shadow of the main dome of the temple is not visible anywhere at any time of the day. Being situated on the sea shore, it is very common to hear the sound of the sea only when devotees and visitors are outside the temple. The sound of the sea is not audible as one steps inside the main entrance of the temple and moves inside. Moreover, while the temples are usually inhabited by birds like pigeons etc. the temple of Puri Jagannath is the only temple where no bird ever passes over the temple.
Apart from all this, the giant Sudarshan Chakra, also known as Neelchakra, mounted on top of the temple, can be seen only in front of it when viewed from anywhere in Puri. Meaning it is impossible to see the Neelchakra from the side or its edge. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
