Personal Development
This short audio presentation is designed to bring a clear definition of what self-talk is, how to achieve effective and positive self-talk, and to give you an opportunity to focus and reflect on the level of effective and positive self-talk currently in your life.
"There's someone in my head, but it's not me." Roger Waters. There is a voice inside everyone's head that is constantly talking. It never stops: Always chattering away, every minute of our waking hours. This is known as our "Self-Talk" or "Internal Monologue". No one else ever hears this internal voice but us. We are the sole listeners to our self-talk. What our self-talk repeatedly says to us and how we respond to it, has a big influence on our life.
If our egos are too dominant, then our self-talk may be critical and demanding. What does your self-talk say to you? Is it generally positive or negative? Is it compassionate or critical? Is it constructive or conflicting? Is it a voice of hope and encouragement? A voice of anxiety and fear?
How this audio learning experience works
This audio presentation has been designed using an experiential learning model, Kolb, D. A. (1984): concrete learning, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation.
By taking this approach we hope to cater for all learning styles.
You will be given specific new information in the recording usually as “key tips”, “explanations” and “quotes”. You will be led through a gentle but positive meditative reflection process to assist you before conceptualisation and then putting your new skills into practice.
You will be encouraged to return to the recording from time to time to re-listen and reinforce your learning and the desired changes in your life.
Enjoy!
