They say you can't go back home, but Marin Sinclair never felt she had the right to call the Navajo reservation home, and she certainly never expected that answering a plea for help from a long ago friend would put her life in jeopardy. Sgt. Justin Blue Eyes of the Navajo Nation Police shares a connection with Marin from the past, and he has the same questions plus a few, like why the Nuclear Regulatory Commission would send a government agent to investigate abandoned uranium mines on reservation land. But first, he needs to find Marin, and it looks like she's gone off the grid--on her own in the Lukachukai mountains in Navajoland with a killer close behind.
