Scattered in the vastness of the Indian Ocean, a handful of small islands has become one of the most desirable holiday destinations in the world. Some of the islands are no bigger than a boat, others harbour a few dozen people; on others towns have been built… All of them, however, have reached an agreement with the natural elements…

“Towering” only one and a half meters above the sea, these island paradises meet every sunrise with the hope that the sea will be merciful to them today… While each sunset is a moment of gratitude that they are still there.

These tiny specs of land, strewn like beads in the ocean, are the dream destinations of an increasing number of adventurers. Today the islands want to reveal more of themselves to us, to send messages through the beautiful pictures we are going to take, to tell us that everyone are welcome and to implore us to do what is needed so that they can continue to exist when the children of our children set off on a similar journey…

Maldives – Hudhuranfushi Island

We have an important plan The subject of conserving elephants arouses passions all over the world. It’s the same here in Sri Lanka. According to the Ministry of Nature Conservation there are 5879 elephants on the island, the highest number in the whole of Asia.

Despite this, elephants are still an endangered species. There greatest conflict is with man. Fortunately Sri Lankan elephants are relatively safe from poachers, since only 7% of them have tusks. In Sri Lanka the percentage is even lower. Only 2% of elephants here have priceless tusks, which costs the lives of these animals at the hands of poachers greedy for a profit. 

Everyone we ask about elephants mentions the orphanages for baby elephants. Today, however, we want to see the wild world of these giants. Where can see wild elephants in Sri Lanka? The locals say that there are three fantastic places – the Kaudulla, Minneriya, and Udawalawe National Parks.

Our long-awaited trip to a distant kingdom is about to start. Once an attractive prize for its Asian neighbours and European colonizers, the kingdom has suffered savage and bloody genocides in which it lost more than 3 million people. This country in South East Asia, in the southern part of the Indo China peninsula is one of the heavily mined areas in the world. According to some estimates there may be up to ten million mines. In addition to the deadly anti-personnel mines planted throughout the country by the various governments and factions, there are also many unexploded artillery shells and other types of bombs dropped by the USA at the end of the 1960s and early 1970s.

“No Luggage” we’re travelling to a country with an impressive historical and cultural heritage. We’ll be seeing the kind-hearted, hospitable people and the hot sun giving life to the dense verdant landscape.

We have set ourselves a new goal – to travel slowly! We want to have time to see, to sense and to smell… We want to have time to enjoy and even shed a tear at our meetings and the scenery. We want to sigh in delight at the wonders created by man and to see humanity in the light of its destructive powers. We want to hear the legends of the local people and to tell them about our world. We want to knock on doors and be met in a modest home by people with huge hearts.

What makes the journey unforgettable, what makes you want to go back over it your memory and tell your friends about it are those emotions that come straight from the heart. Emotions that come to you unexpectedly because you've seen eyes filled with love, or children running through the dust in bare feet which will never known shoes. Or your thoughts have returned to your own children, while your boat is being piloted by a little boy who will never go to school, because he can’t afford it and has to work to help his family. Such journeys take your back to that seed of love hidden deep in your heart and wants to germinate and grow into that journey we call life.

Cambodia – Local Life, Baptism, Tonle Sap

We’re travelling to Siem Reap in North West Cambodia. It is the most popular tourist city and the entrance to the Angkor region.

Siem Reap boasts colonial and Chinese architecture in the Old French quarter and the Old Market area. There are museums and centres for traditional Apsara dances. There is also a Cambodian culture village with craftsmen and souvenir shops. The region also has many silk farms, rice fields, fishing villages and countless bird watching opportunities around Tonle Sap lake. Tourists can also enjoy hotels and restaurants of all categories. 

Siem Reap prospers thanks to its proximity to the Angkor Temples, the most popular tourist attraction in Cambodia.

The first thing which travelers associate with Cambodia is Angkor Wat. Why is this?

Angkor Wat is a magnificent temple with towers resembling lotus buds, gardens and galleries, friezes depicting warriors, kings, demons, battles and three thousand heavenly nymphs, all designed and built within a period of 37 years by 300 000 workers and 6000 elephants, at least that’s what the temple inscriptions claim. Millions of sandstone slabs were carried down from Phnom Kulen mount and Angkor spread over kilometers.

“No Luggage” we’re on a adventure to one of the wonders of the world. A temple insubordinate to time, unique in its beauty and level of preservation. Angkor Wat is testament to a level of magnificence and luxury far in excess of those of the Pharaohs or Shah Jahan, a monumental structure greater than that of the Egyptian pyramids, and artistic brilliance comparable with the Taj Mahal. The miracle of Angkor Wat is incomparable with any other structure in the world.

Cambodia – Angkor Wat

Today we will be visiting the Pyramid of the Sun – the third tallest pyramid in the world, after Giza in Egypt and the Pyramid of Cholula, which is also in Mexico. The main road through the ancient city of Teotihuacan is the Boulevard of the Dead. The Pyramid of the Sun is to the east. It is in excellent condition for its age, and we will climb the pyramid to enjoy the view of the surrounding ruins from the summit. From here we can imagine the scale of construction and the enormous scope of the once prosperous empire…

Academics continue to ask many questions about the purposes of the buildings in Teotihuacan. For years, archaeologists have searched for the tombs of Aztec rulers from the city's most prosperous period between 100 and 700 AD, but so far have found no definite trace of such. However, one thing they agree on is that the Great Goddess was worshiped in Teotihuacan.

Mexico – Teotihuacan / Aztecs Empire

In the midst of a dense jungle, Palenque is one of the most impressive and mysterious of all the ancient Mayan sites in Mexico. Its ruins lie next to the turbulent waters of the Osumakinta River.

After a long period of prosperity followed by decline, the jungle overgrew the city's buildings hiding them the eyes of invaders and thieves. Today, the ruins have been cleared and restored and the archaeological site attracts thousands of visitors. It is located in the Mexican state of Chiapas. Although not as large as Tikal, Chichen Itza or Copan, Palenque is a treasure trove of some of the best architectural designs, sculptures and bas-reliefs produced by the Mayans. "No luggage" – our encounter with Palenque is the best way to get to know the Mayan civilization!

Mexico – Who the Red Queen Was

The Mexican state of Yucatan is famous for one of the most incredible archaeological sites – Chichen Itza, the ancient city of the Mayans.

It was one of the biggest Mayan cities and frequently described as mythical.

Archaeologists believe that it was once home to the the different ethnic groups of the ancient Mayans. This can be seen from the enormous diversity of the architectural styles.

Chichen Itza is one of the most popular places in Mexico. Thousands of tourists come here to get a closer look at the wonders created by the ancient Mayans.

There is evidence of Moroccan architecture which dates back to 110 BC. These are the massive Berber brick buildings made of compacted clay. The architecture was influenced by Islamization during the Idrisid Arab dynasty, by Moorish exiles from Spain, and by French architecture after France declared its protectorate over Morocco in 1912.

Moroccan style is a new trend in decoration, with roots in Moorish and Moroccan architecture.

Moroccan architecture adorns royal palaces, modern buildings and hotels, but shining with the most famous Moroccan decoration – lanterns. Even just one Moroccan lantern can completely transform a room.

The Berbers call themselves the Amazihgs. They are the heirs of the indigenous population before the Arabs arrive in North Africa.

The Berbers inhabit the whole of North Africa and number about 40-50 million… They speak in their own language, which has many dialects. The two official languages in Morocco are Modern Arabic and Amazig, the language of the Berbers. Moroccan Arabic is called Darija – it is a local spoken dialect… Many Berbers adopt the Arabic language as a consequence of a long process of Arabization and Islamization.

Our journey through colorful Morocco is gaining momentum. Today we are overwhelmed by the foretaste of a golden adventure. We're heading to the Sahara Sands.

The new day is coming, bringing us a tremendous expectation of meeting the Great Desert.

We will get to know the lives of the nomads and their immutable companions through the hot sands – the camels… We will set out on the sea of dunes to merge into the sunset landscape…

There are some places in the world that you want to go back to. In search of new adventure, we're returning to Myanmar, 10 years later. Myanmar, also known as Burma, is a country in South East Asia. It borders with India and Bangladesh, Thailand and Laos, as well as China. Almost one third of the country is an unbroken coast line extending over 1930 km around the Bay and Bengal and the Andaman Sea. One of the most attractive sides of Myanmar is the generosity of the people. Their kind-hearted welcome makes us feel like long-awaited precious guests. This isn't the same all over the world. Perhaps the first reason is their poverty, and living standards. But based on the experience of our travels around the world, the reason lies somewhere else. The theme of our journey here is Buddhism as one of the most peace-loving religions. Although Buddhism isn't really a religion per se.

Buddhism is a complex philosophical system which answers a multitude of questions about the most studied mystery oh human existence – the meaning of human life and the place of man in the Universe. The life of Buddha resembles a beautiful fairy tale.

Everything around us tells us how important it is to let Gautama Buddha's philosophy reach us, teach us about our understanding of the challenges of this life and the ideals that one can seek in order to achieve happiness…

It's been a few years since our last visit. We want to experience the joy of our first encounter with Inle and to see whether the unforgiving processes of globalization have left their mark. Lake Inle in Myanmar is waiting for us with new adventures!

Myanmar – Inle Lake / Settlements

We are guests of the Hadzabe tribe – the last hunter-gatherers in the savannah of Tanzania… This visit is extremely unusual. We will be in a chase during their morning hunt. Whether we will be useful or just a hindrance will become clear very soon.

All Hadzabe boys and men are hunters. Of course, some are better than others… Their culture is the so-called "bow and arrows". They do not use other weapons and do not make traps for catching. Small bows are made The little boys and they start walking around with their grandparents and learning how to use them. Initially, they practice stalking and hunting reptiles, rodents and birds around the bivouac…

Tanzania – Hadzabe Tribe / Meet the Elders

Ngorongoro is a protected area in Tanzania, part of the World Heritage, which is located 180 km west of Arusha…

The area is named after Ngorongoro Crater – a large volcanic caldera in the area.

We wake up amidst wonderful beauty… Our camp is on the edge of the crater, surrounded by bushes and trees, absorbing the moisture from the clouds, which seem to envelop every twig and leaf.

Travel calms us. It brings us peace of mind. Travel teaches us to look inside ourselves and to hear our thoughts. 

There is a very distant island that frequent beckons. It wants to teach us something new. It wants to show us how to look beyond what is visible, what has already been said and beyond the material world. This is the modest, but magnetic island of Bali. Unexpectedly and strangely, even though we had no plans, we have been draw towards it. We know there must be an important reason!
