صدر هذا الكتاب عام 1972، وفيه يتحدَّث الدكتور مصطفى محمود عن الذات الإلهية وصفاتها ومعاني أسماء الله الحسنى ومفهوم التوحيد من وجهة نظر الإسلام، ثم ينتقل إلى نشأة الأديان وبداية بحث الإنسان عن الله، واتجاهه لعبادة قوى الطبيعة ثم توحيدها في إله واحد واتباع منهج الأنبياء في الدعوة إلى عبادة الله. أما النصف الثاني من الكتاب فيعرض آراء العلماء والفلاسفة ونظريَّاتهم عن الله، وكيف اهتدى بعضهم للإيمان بوجود خالق للكون، ثم يرُدُّ في الجزء الأخير على مُنكِري الله كاشِفًا ما يشوب ادعاءاتهم من تناقضات.
