لفتَ نظري منمنمةٌ فارسيةٌ ضخمة، تشغلُ مساحةً كبيرة من الجدار المقابل لمكتبِه؛ بِساطٌ من الكاشان المطرز بأوراق نباتية وأزهار. كان البِساطُ فيروزيًّا مثلَ محيطٍ يرتدي فستانًا مِن الزهور الزرقاء، يحملُ صورةَ شيخٍ كثيفِ الشعر أبيضه، يجلس إلى ظلِّ شجرة عملاقة، ومِن خلفه جدول مَاء تحومُ حوله طيور ملونة. كان الشَّيْخ شاخصًا ببصره إلى السماء، رافعًا يدَه اليمنى مِثل مَن يتوجه بدعاء، بينما تحمِلُ يدُه اليسرى كأسًا. كان البساطُ مُذيلًا بعبارة مكتوبة بخطٍّ فارسي واضح. "لوِّن البساطَ بالخمر إن أمركَ شيخُ المجوس … فَالشَّيْخ العارف هُوَ الأعلمُ بمسالك المنزل"
