Our desires and our dreams may vary. our road is and must be our own. Yet, beneath the myriad of human expression, the motiva- tion that drives our journey through time is the same. By virtue of our birth, by virtue of our humanity, by virtue of our status in evolution, we each play an essential role in the universe's becoming. It is our nature as individuals to look ahead. It is our character as human beings to move forward, to push the reaches of who we are. We are compelled to advance to greater autonomy and consciousness, to greater personality and sub- stance of character. We are driven to build a better future for ourselves and for our families. Inescapably, our greater sense of self has a practical outcome, one that touches our lives in a down-to-earth way. our evolu- tion must result in a reshaping of the physical world and in a reinvention of the way we go about our lives in that world.
