Agastya Rishi and Lopamudra

Agastya rishi was the son of twin Gods Mitra-Varun and apsara Urvashi.

Once Rishi Agastya decided to marry and raise a child and approached the king of Kanyakubja to ask for the hand of his daughter in marriage.

King of Kanyakubja was afraid of the great rishi’s powers and could not refuse. He got his beautiful daughter Lopamudra married to the great sage.

When rishi Agastya approached his wife, she refused his advances saying, first he should offer her a comfortable life deserving of a princess that she was and then think about raising a family.
