JUNGLE SONG is the tale of a young Amazonian who has ‘chanced’ across a guitar floating down a river and into his hands. Nampay teaches himself how to play while in the wilds of the Amazon jungle.
Nampay’s story is told through friends and acquaintances who met him while he was on the road. Nampay’s tour is a legend among the roadies, bluesmen and women, groupies, and many others in the western world. Nampay’s innocence guides him through the tours as much as his natural aptitude for music and his peaceful personality.
Nampay is discovered and brought out of the jungle, at first as a curiosity, then later, as a celebrity. An agent is appointed to Nampay and he is used as a marketing vehicle for the music industry and the label that has him under contract.
Nampay is like a child and doesn’t understand the things of the modern world and in the world there are things that even modern man can’t understand, such as Nampay’s instant musical memory.
As the tours run on Nampay becomes lonely and misses his world. One day he asks one of his handlers if he can go back to the jungle. They tell him that of course he can; he can go anywhere he likes.
Nampay discovers what is happening to his jungle regarding the slash and burn clearing of the land and he wants to stop this practice.
Then the fact is explained to Nampay, that he is rich, very rich in fact, and that he can buy anything he wants, including a piece of the jungle.
To save the Amazon and secure a home for he and his family, Nampay buys a huge portion of the jungle and starts a movement to purchase a reserve. This movement becomes a world-wide phenomenon and even more land is secured for Nampay’s reserve and the betterment of the world.
