This book tells you everything about fishing and sport fishing in Sweden, from a historical look at how we fished to get food on the table to how we fished more for recreation today. Sweden has plenty of lakes and streams that are open for fishing. Water areas are privately owned and leased to a fishing public through the purchase of fishing licenses.

The fishing administration areas (FVO) administer the fishing waters, offer fishing licenses, build ramps, rent boats and issue depth maps of the waters.

The book also gives advice regarding making fishing sustainable, because we all want to keep the fine fishing we have today. Handling your catch in a proper way and using Catch & Release are two ways of accomplishing this.

Fishing can be a first-class activity for families. This book gives a lot of advice on how to set up fishing trips and nature visits so that the children will not be disappointed and will be excited for future trips.

In Sweden, sport fishing is generally an interest for men. People who work with fishing issues are working to encourage more girls and whole families start fishing with the hopes of retaining this exciting interest. Fishing suits both women and men.

Fishing must take place on the child's terms, be simple and lead to bites. If nothing happens, children do not see the point of the activity and it becomes difficult to get them interested more than once. Current fishing methods use lots of digital equipment is used and this can attract many young people to this activity.

Trolling for pike and zander is a method that suits both the beginner and the more trained angler equally well. A boat is needed because the baits used to attract the predatory fish must be placed at the depth where predatory fish dwell.

You can use very simple or more advanced equipment and you get advice on either level to choose. The book presents the equipment that is needed. The method is also suitable for children because the only thing a beginner needs to do is watch for bites and reel in the fish. Gradually, beginners can manage more things, like setting out lines, changing baits and steering the boat.

The baits used while trolling are the only thing the predator sees and are therefore of utmost importance. Thus, most of this book focuses on baits to use. Several specialists reveal their favorite wobblers and I tell you how to make your wobblers even more attractive to get more hits. How you find the most effective wobbler is another topic that I discuss in this book.

Bait choice is very important and so is the fishing depth. How to find out how deep different wobblers work is discussed and some easy methods of placing the wobblers where the predatory fish are also covered. If you get a snag, advice on effective ways to save your dear bait is also given.

Trolling 2

This book is part 5 (of 15) in the natur-fiske series. A complete guide to fishing and spending a nature holiday in Sweden. 

This is quite a sensational book because you can read about and learn at what times pike eat during the day. I describe how my co-author, Christer Svensson, and I discovered this and how we tested if these ‘meal times’ were true. It certainly was and we published (the printed) book "Nu hugger gäddan!" where the feeding times were revealed. This sensational book is here for the first time available in English in a revised digital version. The bites still occur at these specific times and will give you more bites if you make use of these feeding periods.

We used trolling and ice fishing to find the times, so there is also information about these methods in the book.

Before the release of “Nu hugger gäddan!” there was nothing at all written about the biting times because very few people thought that specific feeding times existed.

The Biting Times of Pike

This book is part 6 (of 15) in the natur-fiske series. A complete guide to fishing and spending a nature holiday in Sweden. 

This book is about the biting times of pike and how you can adapt your fishing to when pike are hungry and on the look-out for food. At these times it is easier to make pike bite. The book also addresses the question of how often pike eat and if it is possible to calculate which days they will be feeding.

How weather, wind and temperature in air and water affect catches is also examined. The book offers useful knowledge for anyone interested in pike fishing.

 Study the book and then go out and test our advice in your own water wherever you live. Pike most likely eat at "our" times there as well., We also share how you can test the more exact times specific to your bodies of water.

Pike Fishing

This book is part 7 (of 15) in the natur-fiske series. A complete guide to fishing and spending a nature holiday in Sweden. 

There is a lot of research on walleye (Stizostedion vitreum), the zander’s cousin of North-America, and I have studied a lot of this. So, for anglers in North America, the book is also very useful, just like for zander fishermen in Europe.

The walleye research turned out to be also very true for "our" zander (Sander lucioperca). I have studied its eating habits for a long time all year round and discovered there are certain times when zander prefer to hunt. A large part of my zander catches has occured at these times. Feel free to test these times after reading this book.

Zander fishing is very exciting, not particularly easy, but with the book's advice you will absolutely learn how to catch this amazing fish.

The Biting Times of Zander

This book is part 8 (of 15) in the natur-fiske series. A complete guide to fishing and spending a nature holiday in Sweden. 

Basic facts related to zander's eating habits and growth are described. I explore questions like: How long does it take between two meals for the zander? Is it the same all year round? What do zander eat in Sweden and in other countries? If you know the answer to these question, it is easier to look for baits that are similar to the behavior of the prey. There are irresistible zander wobblers, but there are also those that are useless. This book can help you decide which wobblers fall into which category and will help you catch fish.

The hunting methods for walleye and zander are described. Zander feeding methods can be studied more in detail on our YouTube channel. There you can also see videos showing how different baits move in the water.

Zander often change their preferences so one section deals with the changing of wobblers, something that is needed more often than when you fish for pike.

Float fishing for zander has its own chapter as it is a thrilling method. Seeing a float disappear is both exciting and nerve-wracking. What's on the hook?

Zander Fishing

This book is part 9 (of 15) in the natur-fiske series. A complete guide to fishing and spending a nature holiday in Sweden. 

I have done research and fished all year round to figure out the zander's feeding times and feeding habits. I have also fished around the clock, something which this book examines. From the middle of the 20th century, zander fishing was carried out rowing or trolling at night, usually using red and white HI-LO-wobblers as baits. The general idea was that zander only hunted at night. To find out if zander even today feed during these times, I "forced" myself to fish in the dark both in my boat and on the ice.

Today, with more and more effective methods and baits, we know that it is possible to get zander to bite even during the day and the interest in night fishing has decreased. My fishing experience suggests that if you fish in low light and at night instead of only during the day, you would catch more zander.

Read this book and take part in my efforts. If you get crazy ideas, it can get you into problems and that was the case for me as you’ll read in this book.

Zander in the Dark

Perch fishing is rising like a rocket in popularity and it's so much fun. Many young people become perch specialists and fish only for these striped ones. When, in addition, all these anglers use Catch & Release, the great fishing we do have will remain. That is how it should be! For a few years I have fished significantly more for perch and at the same time tested and evaluated many methods and baits both in shallow and deep water.

Fishing deep for perch was difficult before the fishfinder made its entrance, but nowadays using digital equipment you can find the large schools and fish with the method and bait you prefer. I show how perch schools can look like on different fishfinders and teach you what methods and baits will make them attack.

In the book Fishing with the family, you can get advice how to fish from the shore and in a boat. Perhaps float fishing is the most simple and effective method?

Perch Fishing

This book is part 11 (of 15) in the natur-fiske series. A complete guide to fishing and spending a nature holiday in Sweden. 

From my (printed) book "Exciting methods for pike, zander and perch" I have fetched and revised the chapters in this book. A lot of space is given to ice fishing for zander and pike, a rather new and fun method that is a development of “angelfiske” (tip-up fishing) for pike. I describe equipment and how to behave when there is a bite. In the books The Biting Times of Pike and The Biting Times of Zander you will find more about fishing on ice, as we used ice fishing as a method to find out the biting times of these species.

Can you go trolling with a jig? Absolutely and with good results. How to make pike and zander bite is described in detail in this book. You will learn trolling with bait as well, and the spectacular method of clucking for perch.

Float fishing and slow trolling with bait fish are other methods presented.

More Pike, Zander and Perch Fishing

This book is part 12 (of 15) in the natur-fiske series. A complete guide to fishing and spending a nature holiday in Sweden. 

In my (printed) book "Exciting methods for pike, zander and perch" the big news was the detailed chapter on vertical fishing, a method that struck like a bomb in sport fishing-Sweden in 2007. Many who used trolling and spin fishing changed methods and there was a vertical boom / zander boom that changed fishing significantly. I was involved from the beginning and in this book the different variants of vertical fishing that arose in the wake of the introduction in Sweden are described.

I call the primary method "traditional" and I describe my days fishing with the guy who introduced the method, Jörgen Larsson, and two fishing guides in the Netherlands.

Fireball, which is vertical fishing with natural bait, is the second method described.

The method I launched in the book "Exciting…" and which I still use, drift fishing, is described carefully, as is the description of how you can fish vertically with simpler equipment, "Everyman’s Vertical Fishing".

The method that displaced the traditional method and became very popular, is also included, of course. It is called pelagic vertical fishing, which targets the larger predatory fish, mostly zander. Many large fish have been lured to bite with this spectacular method which relies on an essential tool, the fishfinder.

Vertical Fishing

The goal for many anglers is to get massive fish on the hook. This book gives a lot of advice on how this dream can become a reality. I claim that knowledge is the solution, something that some who aim for a personal record every fishing day may have forgotten. It is very important to learn from fishing, to listen to the advice of others and to acquire knowledge about the species you fish for, to learn about the waters you are fishing, to use the methods and baits that are suitable for big fish.

Do big pike eat at the same times as the smaller ones? The answer is given in this book and I also examine if the idea "large baits give big fish" is true. Experts give bait advice for large fish and I investigate whether "luck" is needed to get the record fish.

Catch a Big One

This book is part 14 (of 15) in the natur-fiske series. A complete guide to fishing and spending a nature holiday in Sweden. 

Spin fishing became less popular when trolling made its entrance in Sweden around the turn of the century. The anglers noticed that trolling rendered more fish and the method developed quickly. I was one of those who hung up the spinning rod in favor of the trolling equipment.

In recent years, spin fishing has gained many new followers and is really popular. In recent years I have been spinning more than ever and it is still the same wonderful feeling when a bite comes. The direct contact that occurs between fisherman and fish is wonderful.

This is an instruction book in spin fishing, and I dare say that I have not forgotten anything important.

The bait tips are given a lot of space, and I discuss advice for fishing in both shallow and deep water. "The lazyman’s method", a popular German method, which I introduced in "Exciting methods…" is described in a chapter. Technique and tactics are also discussed. How to spin fish at a depth of eight meters with the bait at a depth of four meters, where the fish for the day are, is revealed.

The beginner is offered ten basic tips on how not to put the lure in anyone’s ear and how to become successful and catch fish.

Spin Fishing

This book is part 15 (of 15) in the natur-fiske series. A complete guide to fishing and spending a nature holiday in Sweden. 

The book is a guide on how to get out into nature in the best way and what you can do there alone, in a group or with the family. Fishing is only one such activity and this book gives advice on how to carry out many other exciting activities.

In Swedish nature, there is room for many more because the Right of Public Access provides great opportunities to stay and move in virtually untouched wilderness. I give tips on how to choose a suitable "wilderness level", from taking a bike ride and returning home to hiking for a week in the wilderness and spending the night in windbreaks and tents.

Examples of accommodation options are presented. In addition, which animals you can see and photograph is discussed and advice is given on how to create a quiet holiday.

Sustainability is extremely important and examples are given of how to achieve this when staying in nature.
