BodyWorks is a collection of poems that pay tribute to the design and purpose for various parts of the human body. The analogies made between these anatomical components and other mechanical instruments are intended to help the reader reflect on their physiological functions and contemplate whether man can truly replicate what God has created.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dr. Martha Hinman holds baccalaureate and doctoral degrees in physical therapy (PT) as well as a master's degree in health education and a doctorate in allied health education and administration. During her 45 years of experience in higher education, she has mentored hundreds of students and faculty members at universities in Indiana, Maine, Texas, South Carolina, and New York. She has published 50 articles and book chapters, delivered more than 70 scientific and educational presentations, and received numerous awards for her teaching and research.
Dr. Hinman is semi-refired and currently serves as the director for a new Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Long Island University. She is also a professor emeritus for Hardin-Simmons University and remains active as an accreditation reviewer and consultant for other PT education programs nationwide. In addition to Body Works, Dr. Hinman recently released the second addition of her first book entitled Amazing Grays: Spiritual Reflections on the Human Body. She currently resides in Abilene, Texas with her husband, Pete Hinman, Jr.
