BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma's comments on Prophet Muhammed during a Live TV debate invited criticism from Several countries. As many as 15 middle-east countries including Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait, Qatar, Libya, Oman, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Maldives, Indonesia etc condemned her statement and registered an official protest with the Indian envoys in these countries. Indian products were reportedly taken off shelves in these countries as a mark of protest. As the backlash grew, the BJP distanced itself from the comment made by its spokespersons and even suspended them from the party. But it seems like the decision of the BJP did not go down well with its supporters.But it did not stop at that, several leaders of the BJP too are openly but indirectly hinting that they don't agree with the party.
