YOUNG BLACKBEARD THE PIRATE
PORT OF BRISTOL 1690
Book 3 of 6 – The curse of the lemonade stand
Here is the summary description of this book:
In 1690s Bristol, young Edward Teach—the boy who would become the infamous pirate Blackbeard—leads his crew in a daring lemonade stand scheme at the bustling High Cross market. Using stolen sugar and Anne Bonny’s over-sweetened brew, they attract sailors and merchants alike—until a rival vendor accuses them of sugar theft, a crime punishable by transportation. Facing the constable, Edward spins a tale of the "Sugar Witch," a Barbados hag who curses their lemonade, and sells "anti-curse" potions (dyed with stolen cochineal) to the superstitious crowd. The deception works, earning them enough coin for future adventures while showcasing Edward’s early knack for manipulation and theatrics—traits that would later define Blackbeard’s reign of terror. The story blends historical details of Bristol’s sugar trade and maritime culture with a playful origin for history’s most notorious pirate, proving even legends start small.
This is the third of six audiobooks in the series and I do hope you enjoy this instalment, and it's only $3.
I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, accordion, fiddle, harmonica and bango in a classical sea shanty jig. The closing music ends the tale on a similar jig and at about 2 minutes with the same musical instruments but more upbeat looking forward to the next episode.
The story itself runs to about 13 minutes is is narrated in my own voice.
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!
