ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK
"The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" by Sherman Alexie, tells the story of Junior, a teenager growing up on the Spokane Indian reservation. Born with medical issues, he decides to leave the rez to attend an all-white high school. This decision forces him to navigate the complexities of identity and belonging as he feels like he is "half Indian" in one world and "half white" in the other. He faces challenges such as poverty, racism, and the struggle to reconcile his heritage with his desire for a better life. Through humor and wit, Junior confronts difficult issues and uses drawing as an outlet. The book explores themes of identity, friendship, loss, and the power of hope.
