The 27 daughters of Daksh Prajapati were married to Chandra. Chandra was more devoted towards Rohini and ignored his other 26 wives.

When Daksh found out about this, he was enraged and cursed Chandra to gradually fade away.

Narad muni advised Chandra to seek help from Bhagwaan Shankar, who promised to help Chandra.
