Once Bhagwaan Shankar and Mata Parvati were roaming in the gardens of mount Meru and they stopped near the wish fulfilling tree Kalpavriksha.
Parvati ji expressed the desire to have a daughter who can give her company and the tree granted her wish by giving her a daughter, who is known by the name Ashoksundari, because she was a beautiful girl (sundari) born to relieve Mata Parvati of her sorrow cause by loneliness (Ashoka).
She later married Pururava’s grandson Chandravanshi king Nahush and was mother of Yati and Yayati.
Story of Ashokasundari is narrated in detail in Padma Puran. She is also known as Bala Tripura Sundari. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
