Shishupal

Due to the curse of the four Kumars, the gatekeepers of Vaikuntha Jay and Vijay were born as Shrikrishna’s sworn enemies Shishupal and Dantvakra in Dwapar Yuga.

Shrikrishna’s father Vasudev’s sister Shrutashrava was married to the king of Chedi, and Shishupal was their son. When Shishupal was born he was born with a third eye and two extra hands. After his birth a divine voice announced that whoever’s touch can cause the baby to drop his extra limbs will kill him.

When Shrikrishna came to visit his aunt and lifted his cousin in his lap, his third eye disappeared and extra limbs dropped on the floor. At that moment Shishupal’s mother made Shrikrishna promise that he will forgive one hundred mistakes of her son.

Shishupal grew up to become Jarasandh’s ally and helped him in attacking Shrikrishna on many occasions. During Yudhishthir’s Rajsuya yagya when Shrikrishna was given the honor of first arghya, Shishupal started abusing Shrikrishna and others present in the assembly.
