ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK
Alexandra Bracken's Lore presents a world where ancient Greek gods exist and are hunted by humans seeking their power. Every seven years, the Agon begins, a week-long hunt where nine gods become mortal and vulnerable. The descendants of ancient heroes, driven by the pursuit of kleos or glory, hunt these gods.
The protagonist, Melora "Lore" Perseous, is the last of the House of Perseus. Lore is trying to escape her past and theAgon. However, her life is disrupted when Athena appears wounded at her doorstep. Lore becomes entangled in a dangerous game involving the Agon, a new version of the origin poem that dictates the rules of the hunt, and a power-hungry hunter seeking to become the new Ares, named Wrath.
As Lore becomes involved in the Agon, she and her allies confront difficult choices and make sacrifices. The central themes revolve around fate, legacy, and the struggle between embracing or defying one's destiny. Lore has to decide whether to deny her heritage or deny honor to her ancestors and gods. The story questions the nature of heroism and explores the complexities of morality when faced with impossible choices.
