Urban Voice
Through the Urban Voice series, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary's Boston campus (known as the Center for Urban Ministerial Education, or CUME) and ministry partner Emmanuel Gospel Center seek to give voice to the complexities of the urban experience through the lens of applied biblical exposition. Urban Voice has a deep commitment to the word of God, believing that, when applied accurately, it will have multi- plicative transformational effects on human lives and society.
CUME is focused particularly on equipping urban pastors and leaders for more effective ministry and outreach in their own communities and throughout the world. Since its inception in 1976, CUME has provided training, resources, ministerial fellowship, and stimulation for cross- denominational and intercultural endeavors in evangelism and church development.
Emmanuel Gospel Center (EGC), founded in 1938, is a Christian min- istry serving urban churches and communities in Greater Boston and beyond. Through applied research, consulting, and programs designed to equip churches, EGC works with many partners to nurture the vitality of urban churches as they support and care for the spiritual and physical needs of all people in the city, especially those who are marginalized or underserved.
Working in close partnership since 1976, CUME and EGC seek to en- courage and train urban ministry practitioners and scholars who not only understand the context of their ministry, but also are able to engage with their urban and social contexts effectively and systemically to see the long-term, fruitful impact of the kingdom of God.
